Leave alone those who take their religion to be mere play and amusement, and are deceived by the life of this world. But proclaim (to them) this (truth): that every soul delivers itself to ruin by its own acts: it will find for itself no protector or intercessor except Allah. if it offered every ransom, (or reparation), none will be accepted: such is (the end of) those who deliver themselves to ruin by their own acts: they will have for drink (only) boiling water, and for punishment, one most grievous: for they persisted in rejecting Allah [Translation of al-An'am, 6:70 by Abdullah Yusuf Ali].

Al-Mughira ibn Shu’ba reported: On the day the Prophet’s son Abraham died, the sun eclipsed and the people said the eclipse was because of the death of Abraham. The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said, “The sun and the moon are two signs among the signs of Allah and they do not eclipse because of the death or birth of any person. When you see them, call upon Allah and pray until the eclipse is clear.” [Source: Ṣaḥīḥ al-Bukhārī 1012, Ṣaḥīḥ Muslim 915; Grade: Muttafaqun Alayhi (authenticity agreed upon) according to Al-Bukhari and Muslim]

Anas ibn Malik reported: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said to me, “Young man, if you are able every morning and evening to remove any rancor from your heart towards anyone, then do so.” Then the Prophet said to me, “Young man, that is my tradition (sunnah). Whoever revives my tradition has loved me, and whoever loves me will be with me in Paradise.” [Source: Sunan al-Tirmidhī 2678; Grade: Hasan (fair) according to At-Tirmidhi]

Say: "Not equal are things that are bad and things that are good even though the abundance of the bad may dazzle thee; so fear Allah O ye that understand! that (so) ye may prosper."See Note [Translation of al-Maidah, 5:100 by Abdullah Yusuf Ali].

Note: People often judge by quantity rather than quality. They are dazzled by numbers: their hearts are captured by what they see everywhere around them. But the man of understanding and discrimination judges by a different standard. He knows that good and bad things are not to be lumped together, and carefully chooses the best, which may be the scarcest, and avoids the bad, though evil may meet him at every step.
